Montserrat is inspired by the old posters and signs from the traditional Montserrat neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Designer Julieta Ulanovsky sought to rescue the beauty of urban typography that emerged in the first half of the twentieth century, giving it a modern twist suitable for today’s digital age.

This geometric sans-serif family features clean, strong letterforms with excellent legibility. The design maintains the essence of classic urban signage while being optimized for modern screen display. Montserrat offers a complete family ranging from Thin to Black weights, each with italic versions, providing designers with tremendous flexibility for creating visual hierarchy.
